Emirates Airline has signed a memorandum of understanding with Crypto.com to integrate Crypto.com Pay into its payment infrastructure, with the rollout expected in late 2025. Top executives, including His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum and senior leaders from both organizations, formalized the agreement.
The partnership aims to provide customers with enhanced flexibility and choice in their transactions with Emirates, aligning with Dubai's commitment to financial innovation. The collaboration also targets younger, tech-savvy travelers who increasingly prefer digital currencies for everyday transactions.
Crypto Payments Integration Planned for Q4 2025
The initial phase of the integration will focus on ensuring technical readiness, compliance, and a seamless customer experience. Emirates and Crypto.com are considering whether to launch the service on select routes or markets first or to proceed with a global rollout. Pilot phases are likely to precede a full-scale launch.
When live, customers will be able to pay for tickets and services with cryptocurrencies, with instant conversion to local currency at the point of transaction. Emirates will not hold crypto on its books; all settlements will occur in UAE dirhams, minimizing foreign exchange risk and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Dubai Duty Free has also signed an agreement with Crypto.com to enable crypto payments for millions of international travelers, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a pioneer in crypto-enabled travel retail.
Dubai’s Broader Push for Crypto Innovation
This move aligns with Dubai’s broader strategy to become a global leader in digital finance and blockchain technology. The emirate has already established dedicated regulatory bodies and attracted hundreds of crypto companies to its free zones, making it a hub for innovation in virtual assets and payments.
Other sectors in Dubai, including real estate and retail, have begun accepting crypto payments, further embedding digital assets into the city’s economic fabric. We expect the partnership between Emirates and Crypto.com to set a benchmark for other airlines and travel companies worldwide.

Promotional Campaigns to Boost Adoption
Beyond payment integration, Emirates and Crypto.com will collaborate on joint marketing campaigns to raise awareness and drive adoption among travelers. The aim is to make crypto payments a mainstream option for booking flights and related services, leveraging the strengths of both brands to accelerate user engagement.
The partnership is also part of Crypto.com’s broader strategy to build a universal crypto travel layer, enabling seamless, secure, and compliant payment experiences across air, retail, and hospitality sectors.
Industry Impact and Future Prospects
Both the airline and the crypto industry view the partnership as a significant milestone. By embracing digital currency payments, Emirates is positioning itself at the forefront of travel innovation, potentially inspiring other airlines to follow suit.
We anticipate that this move will increase the acceptance of crypto in mainstream commerce and establish new benchmarks for customer experience in the aviation sector.
As the travel industry continues to evolve, this collaboration could pave the way for further digital transformation and new business models built around blockchain technology.
