Reddit has rolled out a significant update to its platform, introducing the "Content and Activity" settings that empower users to manage the visibility of their posts and comments on their profiles.

This new feature, part of the "Curate your profile" section, allows users to choose whether to keep all content public, selectively display contributions from specific communities, or hide all public posts and comments entirely.

This development marks a pivotal step in enhancing user privacy, catering to those who wish to engage in sensitive discussions without exposing their full activity history.

Content and Activity Settings Explained

The "Content and Activity" settings provide users with three primary options for managing their Reddit presence. They can maintain the default setting, where all posts and comments remain publicly visible; opt to showcase content only from selected subreddits; or conceal all public activity from their profile.

While these controls offer greater flexibility, complete anonymity is not guaranteed, as usernames remain visible within communities, and moderators can access a user's public post and comment history for 28 days. The update also includes toggles for NSFW content and follower counts, allowing users to further customize their public persona.

Managing NSFW Content Across Devices

Reddit's NSFW settings vary by device, offering tailored options for controlling adult content visibility. On iPhones, users can navigate to the Settings app, select Reddit, and toggle the "Show NSFW Content (18+)" option.

Android users follow a similar path through their device settings to adjust Reddit app preferences. Desktop users can access these controls by clicking their profile icon, selecting "Settings," navigating to "Feed Settings," and enabling the "Adult Content" toggle.

To mark an account as NSFW, users must use a desktop or mobile web browser to visit the profile settings and enable the NSFW toggle. Closing and reopening the Reddit app is necessary for these changes to take effect, ensuring discreet browsing with options to blur NSFW images.
