Taiwan is poised to redefine its role in the global tech landscape with the announcement of a massive AI supercomputer project, unveiled at Computex 2025 in Taipei.
This ambitious initiative, a collaboration between NVIDIA, Foxconn, and Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council, aims to establish a cutting-edge AI infrastructure powered by 10,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs.
Designed to accelerate research and innovation, the supercomputer will serve as a cornerstone for Taiwan’s burgeoning AI ecosystem, supporting local startups, universities, and industries in fields ranging from chip design to smart city development.
With global semiconductor trade tensions on the rise, this project underscores Taiwan’s strategic push to maintain its position as a technology powerhouse.

The Power Behind the Project
The AI supercomputer, dubbed an “AI factory,” will be managed by Foxconn’s subsidiary, Big Innovation Company, and built on NVIDIA’s advanced Blackwell Ultra platform.
This infrastructure utilizes high-performance tools such as NVLink, Quantum InfiniBand, and Spectrum-X Ethernet to manage intensive AI workloads.
The system is expected to deliver over eight times the AI performance of Taiwan’s previous Taiwania 2 supercomputer, enabling breakthroughs in climate science, quantum computing, and large language model development.
Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), a global leader in chip production, will utilize the supercomputer to enhance its research, aiming to accelerate the design of next-generation semiconductors critical for AI applications.

Strengthening Taiwan’s Tech Ecosystem
The National Science and Technology Council is spearheading efforts to make this supercomputer a national asset, offering cloud-based AI services to researchers, startups, and enterprises.
This initiative aligns with Taiwan’s vision to transform southern Taiwan, particularly Kaohsiung, into an AI innovation hub.
The facility will support applications in smart cities, electric vehicles, and advanced manufacturing, and it is planned to scale up to 100 megawatts of power in phases.
