The Tensor G5’s debut marks Google’s first use of TSMC’s advanced 3nm N3E process, a significant leap from Samsung’s previous 4nm node. This transition is expected to deliver enhanced performance, reduced power consumption, and improved thermal efficiency, addressing persistent complaints about overheating and battery drain in earlier Pixel models.

TSMC’s process is renowned for enabling up to 18 percent higher speeds at the same power or 32 percent lower power at the same speed compared to the 5nm process, giving Google a stronger foundation to compete with industry leaders.

For Pixel users, the move to TSMC could bring tangible improvements in daily use. The Tensor G5’s tri-cluster CPU layout, featuring a high-performance Cortex-X4 core, five Cortex-A725 cores, and two Cortex-A520 efficiency cores, prioritizes sustained performance and battery life.

Early benchmarks suggest the chip is tuned for efficiency, with projected single-core and multi-core scores expected to rise as software matures. The improved heat management, enabled by TSMC’s InFO-POP chip packaging, should also make the Pixel 10 Pro more comfortable during intensive tasks.
